PAKISTAN, UNA CREATURA MITICA METÀ DONNA E METÀ VOLPE ALLO ZOO
Si chiama Mumtaz Begum Africa Walied è una creatura leggendaria nata in Africa 35 anni fa. Si nutre di frutta e succhi ma anche di dolci. Conosce molte lingue e svariati dialetti e sa anche predire il futuro. Finzione o realtà? Se si dovesse guardare con gli occhi di un bambino, questa creatura metà volpe e metà donna sembrerebbe proveniente dal mondo dei miti e delle leggende e lascerebbe, quindi, attorno a sé il dubbio sulla sua reale esistenza. Con gli occhi di un adulto, invece, tutti i dubbi sono fugati all’istante quando si entra allo zoo di Karachi, in Pakistan. Questa, infatti, è la “dimora” dell’ibrido animale che, in realtà, è un uomo travestito da donna. Si tratta di una finzione divenuta la principale attrattiva del giardino zoologico pakistano. Il giovane, che fa quello che si potrebbe benissimo definire come uno dei mestieri più “strani” al mondo, si chiama Murad Ali. Il trentatreenne, che ha “conquistato” questo posto di lavoro, ha seguito le orme del padre che smise di interpretare il ruolo 16 anni fa. Il ragazzo impersona la mitica figura con entusiasmo: “La gente che viene qua va via felice. E saperlo rende felice anche me. C’è un legame d’amore tra loro e me. La vita è molto breve: dovrebbe essere impiegata regalando sorrisi”.
Come ogni “stranezza” che si rispetti, non mancano le opposizioni e le critiche che hanno definito l’esibizione “deprecabile e ignobile”. Lo zoo, nella persona del direttore responsabile, ha ricevuto pareri contrari perché molti ritengono che natura e fantasia non andrebbero mescolati. Alcuni visitatori, invece, hanno apprezzato lo spettacolo affermando che Mumtaz Begum Africa Wali è solo un’invenzione per suscitare divertimento e curiosità senza ledere o offendere nessuno.Intanto, dopo questa nuova attrattiva, tra l’altro a norma di legge, il pubblico è aumentato.
Perché a impersonare questa creatura mitica metà donna e metà volpe non è una ragazza? Il direttore ha spiegato che la scelta di un attore è ricaduta su un uomo per tutelare l’interprete dello spettacolo da eventuali commenti negativi. Se qualcuno volesse candidarsi per ricoprire questo insolito ruolo si prepari bene per le selezioni. Dallo zoo fanno sapere che, oltre alle doti recitative, passano al vaglio anche il numero di dialetti e lingue che il candidato conosce, fondamentali per interagire al meglio con i visitatori.
